Signing Season

My signing season is fast approaching. I cannot believe it is already past the half way mark of June. The year is half over people. How did that happen? Where did the time go when we weren’t looking?

This year I am only doing to events, Writers on the River and Penned Con. One of the things I love about these events is that their proceeds go to charities. This will be my third year going to these events. I cannot say enough about the heart and soul the organizers pour into them to make sure that the readers and writers have a wonderful experience.

The books I will have at Writers on the River are Beyond the Veil of Whispered Dreams and The Veiled Path to Destiny. Unfortunately, Breathe Me to Life will still be under contract with the Once Upon A Twisted Time box set. However, if you are able to make it Penned Con, the rights for that story will have been returned to me and I will have print copies there for sale. With luck and the grace of my muse, I will also have the third book in the Veil series at Penned Con for sale as well.

Ack! I need to get in touch with my cover artist!

Until next week…Happy Reading!

Eureka!

This past weekend I spent some time looking at stock photos for Celine and Coipeail’s book cover. Let me tell you, going to a site that offers stock photos is equivalent to opening a door and stepping into a timewarp. There are so many pretties which lead to other pretties that are like little pieces of bread crumbs leading you away from the path of your original search.

My goal is to keep the feel of the first two books, but make it a little different. And YAY  after spending more hours on my treasure hunt than I would like to admit, I found a model! And double score! I found a pic with the model for Celine posing with the model for Daria! Not sure what I’m going to do with it…yet…but I will come up with something.

Now I have to get with my cover artist and see what magic she can come up with. That I have the main component found and possible background as well, means one less thing to worry about, and I can concentrate on the writing component. Sooo…I better get to it.

Until next week…Happy Reading!

It Has Begun

Caffeine hasn’t made it to the part of my brain that pulls words out of the air so this next sentence is going to be a bit rambly. The book that is a part of the Veil series…but is not a continuation of Daria and Iauron’s story…in other words, Celine and Coipeail’s has begun! Right now the working title is Veiled Hearts Revealed…but that may change once I get further into the story. I’ve talked to my publisher and we have a tentative release date…I’m not going to say what it is right now, because I tend to jinx myself when I do.

In the meantime, have you read the first two books in the Veil Series? No? You should. Beyond the Veil of Whispered Dreams is the first book, and where you will meet them. Their romance begins in  The Veiled Path to Destiny

Until next week…Happy Reading!

Inventory and Signings

It’s that time of year. What time is that you ask? It’s that time to take inventory of what I’ll need for book signings. Rack cards, magnets, postcards, free with purchase swag, book marks…do I want to purchase pens? The list can go on and on.

Initially, I was going to attend 3 signings this year. Unfortunately, I had to pull out of one due to a family obligation. I will be at Writers on the River in Peoria, IL and at Penned Con in St. Louis.

Writers on the River is on July 21. 2018. It is a charity even and proceeds go to two wonderful charities, Love Heals Thistle Farms and The Center for Prevention of Abuse.
Take a look at all the authors that will be attending this event…but keep in mind, life has a way of getting in the way, and this list is subject to change because of it. Click on the link to read up on the attending authors and find out a little more about the charities.

The other event I will attend, Penned Con is September 20-22. Proceeds from this event benefit, Action for Autism. Two Ballrooms of Authors waiting and wanting to talk books with you. Two days to purchase and get your books signed, and parties for authors and readers to mingle outside of the signing rooms. Click on the link to check out the list of authors and to learn a little more about Action for Autism.

Penned Con Re-Cap

As some of you know, a week ago I was on my way to Penned Con. I can hardly believe it has been a week already. Here is a quick pictorial recap.

The road trip started out with a game of luggage tetris.

I love that we get to set up our tables the night before, which was followed by a pajama party and game night.

I love meeting new readers and introducing them to my stories.

I love seeing readers who have either read Beyond the Veil of Whispered Dreams and are looking to pick up Veiled Path to Destiny, or who have read both and are stopping by to see if I have anything new since Veiled Path was released.

Nothing quite picks up your spirits like hearing a reader who has read your books recommend them to new readers.

The Con ended with Casino night. Dave the dealer patiently taught us newbies the rules of the game. Tickets for prizes were won, chips were lost, laughter and team work was in plenty. It was the perfect way to end a perfect weekend.

Over $14,000 was raised for Action for Autism. How cool is that? Next year’s event looks like it’s going to be amazing. If you’re in the St. Louis are this time next year, you should really check it out.

Until next week…Happy Reading!

On The Road Again

I’m up. It’s early. So early, the birds aren’t even awake yet. After a night of fighting to make it to the land of nod, and sleep being that ever elusive ship that is hard to catch in harbor especially the night before hitting the road for a signing event, I’m happy to report that I did manage to set sail, landing without incident on the far reaching shores. I’m equally happy to report that I will have 2 travelling companions. YAY! *throws confetti in the air*

Penned Con in St. Louis is this weekend. It is two…well two and a half days of fun filled activity. I can hardly wait. You will happy to know, I did remember to pack clothes. 🙂 As a bonus, the large suitcase I’m using this trip, allowed for packing of my pillow and blanket. Only thing left to pack in the toiletries and face paint.

Take a gander at what is scheduled for Penned

Until next week…Happy Reading!

My Pretties Arrived

Two weeks from today, I, along with some local friends, will be making the trek to St. Louis for Penned Con. This is one of my favorite events, not only for how well it’s run, but for the people and authors who attend, and for the charity, Action for Autism, the profits go to.

Aaaaaanyway……the one thing an author MUST have when attending these signings is…..BOOKS! When Irma’s direction was still in question, the organizer of Penned reminded us that one of the print distributor’s locations was in South Carolina. AAAACK! There is no way of controlling which site your books are printed at. Needless to say, I hurried home on my lunch break, placed my book order, and crossed my everythings that they would be printed and shipped before Irma hit land.

They have arriiiiiiiiiiived! My pretties are here!

The excitement of opening a box and seeing the creation you, with the help of your cover artists, beta readers, editors, and publisher, created never dims and never gets old.

Until next week…Happy Reading!

Stroking the Ego of the Muse

I’d like to open this post by saying, my thoughts and prayers are with those who were affected by Hurricane Harvey, those in the path of Hurricane Irma, and those affected by the wildfires off to the Northwest. Please stay safe and evacuate if need be. Things are replaceable…YOU are not.

Sometimes the Muse needs a bit of an ego stroke. This past weekend, that stroke came in the form of reviews of both Beyond the Veil of Whispered Dreams and The Veiled Path to Destiny. I have to admit, I preened a little bit too! Have you read them yet?

Here is what one reader had to say about Beyond the Veil of Whispered Dreams…
“This book has it all Fantasy, romance, suspense, hot Fey, and catty women over stepping their boundaries.
I can’t wait to read the next story to see if Daria remembers herself, if enemies are thwarted, and if love can shine”

And here is what a reviewer had to say about The Veiled Path to Destiny.
“An amazing heartfelt book. This story is about the illusion of time and how this luxury can be easily taken away…A beautiful follow up to Beyond the Veil of Whispered Dreams.”

Reviews of one’s work are a double edged sword. They have the ability to stir the cauldron of doubt that is on a constant simmer, or they can give you and your Muse the boost of knowing you are doing something write and the courage to keep going. Because let’s face it…it takes courage to expose your work, your creation, to the scrutiny and, hopefully, the enjoyment of the public.

Until next week…Happy Reading!

Time Is Flying By

Summer is flying by. I can’t believe it’s already August and the child will be starting school in less than a week. Where did the time go?

My next book signing is at Penned Con in St. Louis the weekend of September 29-30. This event is an awesome two day convention with two days of signings, great parties, two ballrooms filled with authors willing to talk the language of our people…BOOKS!

Meanwhile, I’ve been writing and pimping out my books on all the social media pages. Have you read them? Did you review them?

A Fae King searching for his lost Queen finds her in the least likely place…the human realm. He sets himself on a quest to not only reclaim his mate, but to restore her memory of who she once was. Should be easy enough for the King of Faerie, right?

Back to Work

When my first signing of the season ended, and The Veiled Path to Destiny was released, I had planned to jump right back into writing and getting the next book on the agenda out. My muse, she’s a fickle one, decided otherwise. So,  I took the time to catch up on a little bit of reading. I should actually say, I did a re-read of a book I loved so much I have a pristine, signed copy on the shelf and an e-copy on my Kindle. Do you do that? Buy a book in both formats?

Here’s another question…do you follow an author when they branch out from the genre you’re familiar reading them write? Or do you only want to read the books they write in said genre? For me, if I love the author’s writing, how they bring a scene to life, I will follow. For some, it might take me awhile to make the jump, but for others I jump with little to no hesitation.

Now….I am back to putting words on the page. The book I am currently working on is another Fae romance, but not a part of the Veil series, and will be a stand-alone. At least that is the goal. One just never knows when a secondary character will jump up, waving their hands, demanding their story be told.

The second WIP is a fairytale retelling, but more on that later one. After that, we return to The Veil Series. Celine and Coipeail will have there story told. 😉

What was the book I re-read you ask? Well, I’ll tell ya…It was Sky of Dreams by Jenna Jacob. It’s a departure from the Doms of Genesis series, but OMG…it has all the feels you could possibly want in a contemporary romance. Give it a read. You’ll love it. (link at the bottom of the page)

Until next week…Happy Reading!
